About Carlos
The great Fredrick Douglas once said, “It is easier to build strong children, than to repair broken men.” For Carlos Dunlap II, it is not enough to just build great children, but to rebuild and restructure the foundations and systems that have historically failed them. Hence, the reason he founded the Carlos Dunlap Foundation.
A native of Charleston, South Carolina, Carlos was surrounded by loved ones who breathed words of esteem into him. As a child, he possessed a natural inclination towards sports. While attending Fort Dorchester High School, he played both football and basketball. As his stats amazed his parents, school administrators, and peers, traction around his name grew from recruiters at some of the most revered sports programs in the collegiate world. Clemson University, University of South Carolina, University of Tennessee, and Auburn all had their eyes on Carlos. Ultimately, it was the University of Florida that appealed to him the most.

During his time at the university, the accolades and awards raked in for Carlos. He was voted Defensive MVP in the 2009 BCS National Championship Game, second team All-SEC selection, and consensus first team All-SEC selection. Carlos left Florida his junior year of school and entered the 2010 NFL Draft. He was drafted in the second round by the Cincinnati Bengals. Although he accomplished what many young men would only call a dream, he felt unfulfilled in one area. Determined to finish his college career, he returned to school. In 2015 he earned his Bachelor of Science from the University of Florida and his Master of Business Administration from the University of Miami.

Committed to rebuilding the community he came from, he founded the Carlos Dunlap Foundation. With a focus on providing youth with entrepreneurial exposure and educational support, the foundation aims to dismantle the stigmas around youth from marginalized communities.

When Carlos is not masterminding and strategizing for the foundation, you will find him on the field with the Kansas City Chiefs, or enjoying a big plate of southern brunch in Miami at his restaurant, Honey Uninhibited.
